Just worked out, recovered the body, did some conditioning, Watson said. I watched a lot of film on myself. So, self-evaluation, trying to correct the mistakes I made the first previous weeks and just try to build on that.
Just continue to make better decisions, ball placement, make quicker reads, my pocket awareness. Just try to operate the offense as best as I can.
Focusing on the finer details is mandatory labor for any starting quarterback, but with the Seahawks (4-2) on deck at CenturyLink Field in Seattle on Sunday, executing the minutiae becomes paramount. As is annually the case, the Seahawks are stout defensively with their collection of secondary Pro-Bowlers thriving on the back line of the stingiest unit in the league.
I felt it was a dirty hit and Joe’s our franchise guy, Jensen said afterward (via the Baltimore Sun). We’ve got to go out and protect him. Joe getting ‘cheap-shotted’ like that, I felt I had to do something to protect him and show him that I’ve got his back.
My peers have personal anecdotes that are powerful, Long said. As I look at those stories, it is a common sense thing for me, as an American citizen, coming from a different walk of life, [that] on an efficiency level the [system] could operate with compared to how it does now. … Disenfranchised people being able to find housing loans, jobs. [It’s] hard enough to stay ahead when you have a clean record.
Hearing the stories, it blows you away. For me, it is more of an efficiency thing. But the human element is undeniable as well.
Does Reese believe his job is in jeopardy?
That’s up to the owners of the New York Giants, he said. You can ask them what they like. I just know that I come to work every day, and I know people come in here and work their behinds off every day, and so that is a question you should ask owners.
We’ve had four weeks in a row where we’ve had almost 300 yards consecutively of total offense. … We put points up against Philadelphia. We had a couple of bad things happen. I’m not sure you can directly point those at the quarterback.”
Rivera said he’d like to believe fluke things have happened the past two weeks that have made Newton and the offense look worse than they have been.
He has thrown five interceptions against one touchdown over the past two games, after throwing six TD passes and one pick the previous two weeks in wins against the New England Patriots and Detroit Lions.
The Seahawks are still known for having the defensive side of the equation locked down. Wilson is making sure Seattle has the other side this season, too.
So you want to be a broadcaster, right? he joked during the broadcast. Collinsworth said it looked like they were broadcasting from a blimp.
Despite some positive reaction from viewers, NBC producer Fred Gaudelli thinks NFL TV networks will stick with the high, sideline camera views that have been used for decades.
We’ve long talked about using Skycam more in the live play-by-play coverage of the game, Gaudelli told Sporting News. However, what has stopped us is some of the system’s limitations.
This year’s team was built around Johnson, as dangerous as a receiver as he is a runner; he broke his left wrist in the season opener. Maybe he’ll be back by Thanksgiving.
The addition of Adrian Peterson added some much-needed enthusiasm for the offense, but that won’t make up for the loss of Palmer. The quarterback was placed on injured reserve Thursday, which means the earliest he could return would be for the final two games of the schedule.
And that once-proud defense that had been counted on to keep Arizona in games has had its share of troubles. The Cardinals have been outscored 66-14 in the last six quarters.
The worst came last Sunday in London , where Arizona was routed by the Los Angeles Rams 33-0, the first time the Cardinals have been shut out in Arians’ five seasons as coach.
Going into Week 7, before he had to miss the game against his former team, the Titans, with an ankle injury, McCourty was Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded overall corner this season. Given he’s 30, it would merely be a short-term move for the Chiefs, but one that would also net another developmental QB project in return. Marcus Peters and McCourty would give the Chiefs one of the league’s best cornerback duos and erase a big weakness.
As much as Andy Reid and the Chiefs’ coaching staff have raved about Mahomes and his arm, Kizer’s skill set is better suited for a Smith successor. Mahomes needs to be on the field somewhere soon, and the Browns might as well take a chance on a fourth QB. It’s clear they have already lost patience with Kizer.
Wentz leads the league in touchdown passes (17), ranks tied for third in vertical touchdown passes (7), fourth in YPA (8.0) and places tied for third in vertical passing yards (971). He should be able to improve upon those totals versus a 49ers defense that ranks 28th in YPA allowed (7.9) and 27th in yards per dropback (7.1) and thus is worth his high salary. — KC Joyner
Around The NFL staff: We’re assuming a trade with San Francisco to bring back Kyle Shanahan is out of the cards (sorry, Falcons fans). With the offense still struggling, Dan Quinn’s defense must pick up the slack. It’s not the biggest need, but adding a physical corner like the Colts’ Davis could transform Atlanta’s defense. He’s an upgrade over Robert Alford on the outside. Becoming stickier on the back end would help elevate Quinn’s pass rush. With the Colts headed down the tube and Davis about to hit free agency, it shouldn’t cost a ton to pry him away from Indy.
Reid said Thursday that to his knowledge there is no such meeting scheduled.
There’s question marks around that because, as far as I know, there is no meeting, the San Francisco 49ers veteran said. That’s coming from my group message with the NFL players who were at the first meeting. So there is no meeting, as far as I know.
That was paradise compared to what they’re dealing with now.
Palmer is now staring down the barrel of his 38th birthday and is expected to be out at least eight weeks with a broken arm. Stanton, the replacement again, is older, too. So is Larry Fitzgerald. The defense isn’t what it was back then. David Johnson is out injured, too. The adrenaline of Adrian Peterson’s arrival either disappeared or was lost in customs while crossing the Atlantic.
The 33-0 beatdown by the Rams at Twickhenham Stadium was horrific. So was the moment Palmer suffered a broken left (non-throwing) arm. But worst of all, the thread of hope that they could overcome age and injury snapped.
It may not matter. That’s how dangerous Wentz is.
Less than halfway through his second season, the guy the Eagles traded up to get so they could build around him is the centerpiece of a real contender. He’s making something out of nothing every week now, and what he’s making is special.
It’s always been broader, he said. It’s always been about justice and discrimination in America, police brutality, women’s rights; all those different issues. Clean water; Flint, Michigan. Issues that are pertaining to America that we all need to pay attention to because it’s not until it happens to one of us that it’s important, but it’s important every single day regardless of what we have going on.
He signed with the Ravens on June 13 and caught a 48-yard touchdown pass in his Baltimore debut. Maclin has 16 catches for 159 yards and two scores in five games for the Ravens, who have been hit hard with injuries to receivers.
That’s part of the reason the Ravens offense hasn’t clicked yet, ranking 31st in yards and 23rd in scoring.
We’ve just got to keep working. I think that’s all I can say, Maclin said. The good thing about being in that particular situation is all 32 teams in the National Football League are experiencing the same thing. Whether it’s offense; whether it’s running game; whether it’s defense, defensive line play; you’ve got something you need to work on.
I know we’re not alone in this boat, but it’s our job to go out there and get it fixed.
